Personal Project

Here is the continuation of my personal project! I was so inspired by the model we had in class so I continued using her for my personal project!! I want to express insecurity and lonliness.

  1. I was also very inspired by that model. It so beautiful the way she carried herself. My favorite of you drawings is the black and white that has a texture. How did you do that?

  2. i love the vibe in your paintings... i think its wonderful how one person can change by just adding or subtracting color from the canvas, amazing work...

  3. I really like the colors you are using. However, I don't think these bright vivid colors are expressing insecurity or loneliness. If this is your intent, i would try to use more dark solemn colors. The third one from the bottom is especially pretty but it seems more euphoric and angelic to me. So try to figure out first what you want to communicate!

  4. Maria, I also loved this one drawing in particular, third down on the right side of this post. It has a beauty that is strong and soft at once. The paintings are interesting, but some of the tenderness is lost? Could you paint them bigger and allow some technique that let you FEEL the lines of her FORM again that you have in that drawing?

    Be well T
PS: ALL gave great feedback- thanks!

  5. I like how you're connecting ink splatters with the 3d shape of woman on black/white ones. kind of like an escher work, impossible in reality - switching between 2d and 3d.

  6. Hello! I like the sixth and seventh ones from the bottom--the black and white ones. The way the model is standing there while the ink whips around her reminds me of someone standing in the middle of a windstorm, alone. I'd push that method!

Also, consider the model's stance: a hand on a hip, in my opinion, suggests surity of purpose, confidence, defiance, etc. Did you intend to juxtapose/subvert your theme of loneliness by having her hand on her hip? If it is your intention, then perhaps make the contrast more obvious? Or maybe you could consider changing her stance so that it too reflects the message you're trying to convey. Body language is so interesting to explore through drawing! :) good luck
