I only draw the images in the front; the show, candle, bowl and pill bottle.

  1. Ana, I appreciate you putting the work up! But you know more than you are doing- your gesture of a figure that you did in class was AMAZING and FULL of 3-D FORM!!! You have to practice what you are learning and not do what feels familiar or comfortable.

    1. You have to do quick gestures first to FEEL all the relationships!!! You have to draw the connections between the objects!!! See general PATTERNS of SHAPE and look at the NEGATIVE SHAPES (space between). FORGET that they are objects with names and feel them like they are experiences..remember when you drew the figure you were NOT thinking figure, you just RAN around FLYING at the page trying to get something that was in front of you on the paper!!!
    2. These objects are 3-D and you have to go AROUND them, feel them as ROUND! GO BEHIND!!! and feel the SOFT CURVE of each FORM!!! (we can work more in class this week, but you already can THINK this way!)
    3. If this is the EXACT position that you are drawing from, the pill bottle is TOO HIGH in the drawing, the candle is bigger (wide) and the shoe is closer to pointing at 3:30pm and you have the angle at 5pm.

(Note: put something behind the objects that is flat so that we can see them clearly in the photo.)

I can't wait to see the finished ones this week!! Make sure you bring versions with my suggestions!

    Be well, Tom

  2. OH and, Draw a rectangle around the area that is your drawing, then PUT in some detail of the space around the objects it will help the image create SPACE!!!
