FINAL PROJECT - continuing to explore

I have continued to explore and develop my mind grids, by adding layers of plexiglas (matt and shiny) to make the pieces interactive and to further communicate my idea. I'have also started using different colors and opacity on small blocks of color as layers.
Any tips on what I can paint on for the plexiglass and plastic? Now I'm using acrylics on both canvas and plastic.

  1. this is good!! I can see that this is a grid and is is fun to see how your mind grids look like! Is there anything particular feeling of these grids? like kaos organization etc? good job!!!

  2. I love the simplicity of it jet is complex. the materials you are using also give the piece such a different feeling to each piece. Your project reflect the different ways of thinking... I wonder if the use of different materials can represent different types of minds.... Reflective mind, transparent mind...

  4. I think the different materials can present different states of mind? What states are we talking about? Claudine?

  5. Hi Claudine, I'm with Tom--I think the materials and the colors are determined by the message you are trying to convey! I think the blue and green are beautiful cool colors. The warm colors above it are a smart juxtaposition to the organized grid and the clean, cool materials. Re the plexiglass, perhaps an exercise would be to make a list of what the materials look like to you: for example, 'shiny' could mean pretty, glaring, attracting attention. 'matte' could mean dull, understated, hiding, subtle, noble. That might help!
Also, last week I remember you telling me how you were just beginning to dream and write in English from your native language; this is fascinating to me because I can see that in this work--it's glyph-like and looks like some sort of code to crack, like learning a new language. Keep pushing it! good luck :)
