Pattern Exploration for Final Project

Hi Everyone,
I am very intrigued by pattern. I am thinking of doing some kind of postcard set involving pattern. Does anyone have any suggestions into transforming these postcards so they don't look like wallpaper? I'd appreciate any help :) Here is what I have so far:

  3. I really like these, L! You are usually exploring faces, so it's interesting to see you look at patterns in this way. The left and the middle one speak to me. Because the yellow and green are high-contrast colors, and the pattern is so scattered and bold, it looks frenzied; but the cool colors balance that fever. This is a good example of how to find individuality inside a somewhat controlled process.
The middle one is pretty and delicate with embellishments. If you go with this one, perhaps try employing the craziness on the left by getting rid of the negative space between the patterns with, well, more patterns.
You do 'pretty' very well; maybe you should push it until it's ugly! Ugly can be waaay more interesting, and as a result has its own beauty :)
    good luck,
    Meredith
